May 13, 2006

LOS ANGELES - Dave Huff allowed three runs in a complete game victory Saturday as the UCLA Bruins evened its Pac-10 Conference series with an 8-3 win over the USC Trojans. Huff scattered 11 hits and struck out four to improve to 6-2 on the season.

UCLA is 26-21 overall and 9-8 in Pac-10 play while USC falls to 25-24 overall, 11-9 in conference.

Trojan third baseman Matt Cusick went 4-for-5 while catcher Baron Frost and shortstop Hector Estrella had two hits each.

Cusick hit a leadoff home run for the second straight game, depositing Dave Huff's 1-1 pitch over the wall in right center. UCLA right fielder Chris Jensen tied the game in the bottom of the first with his fifth homer, a solo shot on a full count pitch from Milone to left center. Jensen finished with a 3-for-5 day with two RBI.

Estrella hit a solo home run in the fourth for a 2-1 lead, but the Bruins took the lead with two runs in the fourth. Josh Roenicke hit a two-run double to right, scoring Decker to tie the game. With a full count to Ryan Babineau, Frost thought there was a third strike after he dropped the ball and his throw to first went over the head of first baseman Lucas Duda, giving the Bruins a 3-2 lead. Decker hit his fourth home run on the season with a solo shot to left in the sixth.

The Bruins scored twice in the sixth and seventh innings to complete the scoring.

Tomorrow's series finale begins at 4:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on usctrojans.com and televised live on FOX Sports Net.
