Cardinal Women Advance To NCAA Championships

Auburn, Wash. - The Stanford women's golf team advanced to the NCAA Championships at the end of the month by finishing fourth at the 2006 West Regional in Auburn, Wash. today. The Cardinal shot a 298, bringing their three round total to 896. Freshman Mari Chun led the squad with a tie for 13th individually.
Purdue won the West Regional with a total score of 17-over 881 after carding a 10-over 298 in round three. UCLA was second at 23-over 887. Also finishing in the top eight and advancing to the Championship were Washington (888), Stanford (896), Georgia (900), UNLV (904), Arizona (910) and Arkansas (911).
All eight teams advance to the field of 24 in the NCAA Championships from May 23 to 26 in Columbus, Ohio.
Stanford's Jennifer Tangtiphaiboontana also turned in a top 20 finish, tying for 17th overall with a nine over 225 (74-74-77) while teammate Lauren Todd tied for 24th with a 10 over 226 (76-74-76). Freshman Ki-Shui Liao fired a one under par 71 today to move up the individual leaderboard, tying for 29th overall with a 227 (79-77-71). Teammate Kelly Husted tied for 40th on the day after carding a 231 (75-76-80).
