Eight Sun Devils Named to the Pac-10 All-Conference and All-Academic Teams

ASU sophomores Katie Burkhart and Mindy Cowles were named to the Pac-10 All-Conference Second Team with Burkhart grabbing 25 wins so far on the season, holding opposing batters to only a .157 average and setting a new ASU single-season record for strikeouts with 340 thus far on the season, besting the old record of 316 held by former two-time All-American, Kirsten Voak in 2000.
Cowles was a force both defensively and at the plate for the Sun Devils, with a .259 average on the season and a Pac-10 leading 15 home runs, three of which came in one game against UTEP, tying for second in NCAA records for number of home runs in a game (3) and RBIs in a game (10). Cowles has a .566 slugging percentage and .398 on-base percentage as well as a .943 fielding percentage with 104 put outs on the season and 77 assists.
Two Sun Devils were also named to the CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine District VIII Academic All-America team. Senior, Jen McCard was named to the First Team and sophomore teammate Rhiannon Baca was named to the Second Team. Both athletes are now candidates for the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.
