Taylor Wood Is Second Round Leader At NCAA East Regional

USC senior Taylor Wood, after shooting a 3-under 69 on Friday (May 19), holds the second round lead at the 2006 NCAA East Regional at the Lake Nona G.C. in Orlando, Fla.
Wood, who had four birdies and just one bogey in windy conditions on Friday, is 5-under overall (139) after 36 holes of play in the three-round competition. He holds a one-shot lead over North Carolina's Jonathan Jackson and UNLV's Jarred Texter.
The No. 19-ranked Trojans, seeking their third straight trip into the NCAA Tournament final field, are tied with UCLA for ninth overall with a total of 592 (+16). Georgia tops the field at 578 (+2). The top 10 teams (plus two individuals not on those teams) from each of the NCAA's three regionals will advance to the NCAA Championship at Crosswater Golf Club in Sunriver, Ore. on May 31 to June 3.
Senior Bradley Shaw is the next highest Trojan, tied for 50th at 150 (+6) after shooting a 73 on Friday. He is followed by juniors Jordan Nasser, who tied for 60th at 151 (+7) after shooting a second round 74, and Joshua Wooding, tied for 71st at 152 (+8) after a 78 on Friday. Senior Tyler Ley is tied for 106th at 157 (+13) after carding an 80 on Friday.
The final round of the NCAA East Regional is set for Saturday (May 20).
