Camille LeNoir Makes First Cut For U.S. U-20 National Team
May 21, 2006
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - USC point guard Camille LeNoir passed the first test in the running to make the final roster for the 2006 USA FIBA Americas Under-20 Championship Team. LeNoir is one of 18 of the nation's top 20-and-under women's basketball players named as finalists for the U.S. squad. She was selected out of the pool of 38 players at the national team trials that ran May 18-21 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
LeNoir will rejoin the other 17 finalists in July at a site to be determined for a training camp that will pare down the final roster to 12 players. That group will compete in Mexico City from Aug. 9-13 at the FIBA Americas U20 Championships. The top three teams from that tournament will qualify for the 2007 FIBA U21 Women's World Championships, held July 27-Aug. 5 in Guatemala City.
USC newcomer Aarika Hughes also participated in the three-day trials, but was not chosen among the 18 finalists. LeNoir also participated in Team USA training camps last summer at the 2005 U.S. Junior National Team Trials along with teammate Shay Murphy.
