Bruch Named ITA National Rookie of the Year

Stanford freshman Matt Bruch (Lake Forest, Ill.) today was named the National Rookie of the Year by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Bruch is currently ranked 16th in the nation in singles with an impressive 28-8 record. He is the ninth seeded singles player in the NCAA Individual Championships, which begin on Wednesday.

Bruch began his collegiate career with two outstanding finishes in the fall. He was a semifinalist at the All-American Championships and a quarterfinalist at the ITA Indoors, immediately vaulting him to the top of the national rankings. His record this season vs. nationally-ranked opponents is 16-5.

Bruch was named First-Team All-Pac-10 and the conference's Newcomer of the Year as well as being chosen the ITA West Region Player to Watch.
