Two Sun Devils Earn Baseball Academic All-Pac-10 Honors

TEMPE, Ariz. - Two Arizona State University baseball players were named to the 2006 Academic All-Pac-10 Team, the conference announced today. Junior Joe Persichina and sophomore Willy Fox both earned Second Team honors from the conference. A student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA and either be a starter or significant contributor. True freshmen and transfer students are not eligible. This marks the tenth consecutive year Arizona State has had at least two members of the Academic All-Pac-10 Team.
Persichina (Palos Verdes, Calif.) was named to the Pac-10 All-Academic team for the second straight season, earning an Honorable Mention in 2005. Persichina carries a 3.09 GPA as a business communication major. He has seen action in 36 games, batting .284 with eight runs batted in.
Fox (Scottsdale, Ariz.) earned his first career selection to the All-Academic team with a 3.16 GPA in business communications. The sophomore has appeared in 49 games, hitting .310 with two home runs and 29 RBI. He is among the conference leaders with 35 walks and is second on the team with 45 runs scored.
