TEMPE, Ariz. - With Katie Burkhart throwing nine strikeouts and Kaitlin Cochran and Bianca Cruz both putting long balls over the wall, the #7 Sun Devil Softball squad took game one of the Tempe Softball Super Regional 6-1 over Florida State Friday afternoon at ASU's Farrington Stadium. The Seminoles now fall to 44-29 on the season with ASU improving to 51-13 and one win from advancing to the Women's College World Series.

ASU's bats struck again in the third as a bunt single from Kaitlin Cochran, followed with walks to Rhiannon Baca and Mindy Cowles were blasted home by a grand slam over the left field wall to push the Devils up 6-0.
FSU came back in the fourth with a solo home run from second baseman, Veronica Wootson who put one over left field to bring the score to 6-1. Burkhart settled in to pitch two more scoreless innings before Desiree Serrano came in to wrap up the win for the Sun Devils.
