CORVALLIS, Ore. - Seventh-seeded Oregon State picked up a 3-0 win over the No. 10 seed California softball team in Game 2 of the Corvallis Super Regional to force a third and decisive game Sunday afternoon at the OSU Softball Complex.

The Bears (48-13) opened the best-of-three series with a 2-1 victory over the Beavers (42-14), Friday. Game 2 was originally scheduled for Saturday but was rained out and rescheduled for noon on Sunday. Game 3 will begin 35 minutes after Sunday's first game.

Oregon State scored two quick runs in the top of the first inning. Cambria Miranda and Mia Longfellow led off the game with back-to-back singles. Lisa Allen drove in Miranda on a single through the infield. Longfellow scored when Vanessa Iapala singled to left field. OSU scored its third run in the top of the seventh on an RBI single from Longfellow. The Beavers picked up six hits in the first four innings, including four in the opening frame.

Senior Kristina Thorson took the loss. She threw the first four innings, giving up two runs on six hits.

Freshman Lauren Frankiewicz entered the game in the top of the fifth, her first time in the circle since May 6 at Arizona State. Frankiewicz got three consecutive outs in that inning - a fly-out, a strikeout and a groundout. She gave up one run on three hits in three innings of work.

The Bears had runners in scoring position in the bottom of the fifth. Freshman Gina Leomiti got on base on a Beaver error. She advanced to third on a two-out single from freshman Carly Winger, who advanced to second on the play. OSU got out of the inning with a strikeout.

Cal stranded two runners on base in the sixth inning as well. James led off with a single and moved to second on a two-out single from sophomore Katie Vickers. The Bears grounded out to end the inning.

Cal tallied six hits in Game 2. Winger picked up two singles. James, who has hit in all five of Cal's postseason games, also hit two singles.

This is the second consecutive year the Bears have waited through rain delays in the Super Regional round. Last year, the Bears played the second round in Baylor. Cal opened with an 8-0, six-inning win. On the second day, the teams waited through a six-hour rain delay before beginning the second game. Baylor won that contest, 4-1, but Cal came back for a 7-1 victory in the third and decisive game.
