Three Softball Bruins Earn All-America honors

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Three UCLA softball players were named 2006 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Americans, it was announced on Wednesday. Pac-10 Player of the Year Andrea Duran was named a first-team All-American at third base, as was sophomore pitcher Anjelica Selden as an at-large selection. Senior Caitlin Benyi earned second-team honors at second base.

This is the first All-America honor for Duran, the second for Selden and third for Benyi. UCLA softball student-athletes have now earned 86 All-America honors since current head coach Sue Enquist earned the program's first All-America honor in 1978.

UCLA is the top seed for the NCAA Women's College World Series and begins WCWS play on Thursday night at approximately 6 pm pacific time. The Bruins will play eighth-seeded Tennessee and the game will be broadcast live by ESPN2.
