Munguia, Silverman and Knight End Their Careers as Bruins

The senior trio of Martell Munguia, Jeremy Silverman and Jake Knight ended their careers as Bruins on Friday at the NCAA Championships in Sacramento, CA. The three athletes were UCLA's only competitors on Thursday.
Munguia concluded his UCLA career on Thursday in the 800m semifinal, finishing eighth in heat two and 16th overall in a time of 1:50.31. On Wednesday, Munguia ran a lifetime-best 1:47.95 in the first round, cementing himself in the UCLA all-time top-10 (No. 7).
Silverman and Knight also concluded their UCLA careers on Thursday after failing to advance to the finals in the shot put. Silverman placed 18th (9th in flight one) with a toss of 58-6.50, while Knight was 21st (10th in flight one) with a best mark of 57-4.25.
Looking AheadOn Friday, sophomores Michael Johnson and Dominique Easterling will compete in the qualifying round of the triple jump (3:00 pm). Junior Mike Landers will compete in the finals of the pole vault (4:30), while sophomore Greg Garza and junior Jason Rider will throw in the discus final. In running events, freshman Kevin Craddock will run in the 110m hurdle final and senior Craig Everhart will run in the 400m semifinal.
