UCLA's Ryan Babineau Named Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball

Los Angeles - UCLA catcher Ryan Babineau has been named a Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball, the publication announced Thursday.
Babineau, from Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., had an outstanding freshman campaign for the Bruins behind the plate, earning All-Pac-10 honors in his first season playing collegiate baseball.
Babineau tore up Pac-10 pitching by hitting .351 (26-74) at the plate in Conference play with three home runs, 13 RBI and 11 runs scored. He started all 23 league games for UCLA at catcher.
In his last 25 games of the season, Babineau hit .333 (28-84) with three home runs, 13 RBI, 14 runs scored, as he has raised his batting average 67 percentage points.
Babineau finished the season hitting .259 (46-178) with six bombs, 25 RBI and 24 runs scored in 56 games started at catcher. He also threw out 15 base runners, and went the entire season without committing an error.
