June 12, 2006
PULLMAN, Wash. - Washington State sophomore Ekaterina Burduli and junior Amy Toth finished their 2006 season ranked in the top 25 of the Northwest Region, announced recently by the ITA. WSU finished sixth in the regional team rankings and had two other doubles teams finish in the top 15.
Burduli, a Tel Aviv, Isreal native, ended the season ranked 66th nationally and finished 12th in the Northwest Region. Burduli compiled 25 wins during the 2006 campaign, which was good enough for third place on WSU's single season victory list. She was also the second Cougar to compete in the NCAA Individual Singles Championship, but fell to Northwestern's Cristelle Grier, 6-4, 6-4, in the first round.
Toth finished No. 24 in the Northwest Region after completing the season with 23 singles victories, 15 of which came from the No. 2 spot during dual match play. Toth paired with teammate Maria Ring to finish ninth in doubles.
The 2005-06 season culminated with junior transfer Marjolein van de Ven and Burduli ranked 13th in the Northwest Region's doubles poll. The duo posted a 10-2 record and a team leading winning percentage of .833.
