June 16, 2006

DENVER, Colo. - Recently graduated Husky All-American Paige Mackenzie won the Colorado Open today, shooting a final round 5-over 77 to earn a five-stroke victory with a 54-hole total of 2-over 218. Tacoma's Michelle Murphy finished second at 7-over 223. Last year Mackenzie was the runner-up at the event, which is held at the Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in Denver.

Mackenzie will play next at the U.S. Open, June 29-July 2, at the Newport Country Club in Newport, R.I. She earned an automatic exemption to the event by placing 13th at last year's U.S. Open. Later this summer she will represent the USA at the Curtis Cup, held July 29-30 at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Bandon, Ore.
