Golf Coaches Name Mackenzie First-Team All-American
June 20, 2006
SEATTLE - The National Golf Coaches Association has named Washington golfer Paige Mackenzie a first team All-American. The Yakima, Wash., native joins 12 others on the first team. It is her second such honor, as Mackenzie was earlier named to Golfweek's first-team All-America squad. She has also been named a Pac-10 Conference medalist and been selected to represent the USA at the 2006 Curtis Cup.
Mackenzie capped off her senior year with the best postseason in UW women's golf history, a run that included Washington's first Pac-10 individual title, an eight-stroke victory at the NCAA West Regional, and an eighth-place showing at the NCAA Championship, the best individual NCAA finish in UW history. She also broke her own school scoring record by nearly a full stroke. Mackenzie finished her career as the Husky record-holder with 22 Top-10 finishes and 139 rounds played.
