Baseball's Daryl Arreola Signs With Arizona Diamondbacks

TEMPE, Ariz. - Former Arizona State pitcher Daryl Arreola has signed a free agent contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks, the baseball program announced today. Arreola completed his senior season with the Sun Devils in 2006.

Arreola (Gilbert, Ariz.) appeared in 19 games for the Sun Devils this season, leading the team with a 2.80 ERA. He went 2-1 in 35.1 innings pitched, striking out 32 batters while walking 14. Opponents hit only .212 against the right hander, who transferred to ASU from Chandler-Gilbert Community College.

Arreola will report to his minor league team this week. His Sun Devil teammate Tony Barnette was selected by the Diamondbacks in the 10th round of the 2006 MLB Draft and is playing for the Missoula Osprey, the Class A affiliate of the Diamondbacks.
