Bixler, Shin Maintain Leads at Washington State Amateurs

SEATTLE - Washington junior men's golfer Zach Bixler and junior women's golfer Kim Shin shot 1-over 73 and 4-over 78, respectively, in the second round at the Washington State men's and women's Amateur Championships, maintaining their first round leads. Bixler's two-round total of 3-under 141 gives him a one stroke lead over Jake Easterly of Leavenworth, Wash. Shin's score of 3-over 151 through 36-holes has her two strokes ahead of Jillian Ferrante of Battle Ground, Wash.

Defending Washington State men's Amateur champion and Husky senior Alex Prugh shot 1-under 71 in round two, placing him fifth at even-par 144 headed into round three. UW sophomore John Wise's second round 82 placed him 38th at 14-over 158.

The men's and women's Washington State Amateur Championships are taking place concurrently, with the men playing at McCormick Woods Golf Course in Port Orchard, Wash., and the women playing at Rainier Golf and Country Club in Seattle. The men's Amateur continues through Friday, June 30th, while the women's event wraps up on Thursday, June 29th. Live scoring of the event is available at thewsga.org.
