Park Still in the Hunt after Two Rounds

UCLA sophomore Jane Park was still in the hunt at the 61st U.S. Women's Open following second round play at the Newport Country Club in Newport, RI.

Park, the 2004 U.S. Women's Amateur champion, posted a second round 73 (+2) and was tied for third place at 142 (E) with Shi Hyun Ahn and Michelle Wie. Ahn shot her second straight even par 71 and Wie posted a 72 (+1). All three trail Annika Sorenstam and Pat Hurst by two shots.

Six other players with UCLA affiliations missed the 36-hole cut of eight over par 150. Tour rookie and 2006 UCLA graduate Charlotte Mayorkas tied for 81st at 152 (+10), 20 year-old Amie Cochran tied for 103rd at 154 (+12) and second-year professional Hana Kim tied for 124th at 156 (+14). In addition, 12-year LPGA veteran Kristal Parker-Manzo tied for 134th at 158 (+16), LaRee Sugg tied for 149th at 164 (+22) and amateur Sydnee Michaels tied for 149th at 18-over par.

Thirty-six holes will be played on Sunday to complete the 72-hole event.
