Track & Field Garners National Academic Honors from USTFCCCA

TEMPE, Ariz. - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced its annual list of academic award winners Friday with 12 members of the Arizona State University track and field program attaining the national honor for the 2006 competitive season. All honorees had to maintain at least a 3.20 GPA and have qualified for either the NCAA Indoor Championships and/or the NCAA Regional Championships during the outdoor season.
The entire women's program also was honored by the association as the collective roster carried a 3.13 GPA for the year, meeting the 3.00 or higher requirement. The entire team will be honored as USTFCCCA All-Academics. Individually, nine women also earned the honor while three men also secured the award. The women honored included Corey Randall, Sarah Stevens, Cara Walker, Rachel Ellison, Becky Holley, Victoria Jackson, Brooke Bennett, Jenna Kingma and April Kubishta while the men were represented by Joey Heller, Velibor Radejovic and Ryan Warrenburg.
Overall, 61 men's and women's teams combined to earn academic honors while 247 individual women and 153 individual men were selected for the award.
