Cassidy Krug Qualifies For Fina World Cup July 19-23

July 10, 2006

Stanford, Calif. - Senior diver Cassidy Krug has qualified for the 15th Fina World Cup taking place in Chang Shu, China. Stanford head diving coach Rick Schavone and Olympic Medal Program member (OMP) Krug will travel to China for the event July 19-23, 2006. Due to changes in team selection for USA Diving, Krug underwent a series of selection camps as opposed to one competition in order to qualify for the 2006 World Cup team.

Krug traveled to Indianapolis, the location of the national training center, the week of June 5-10, where she competed against other members of the Olympic Medal Program (OMP) in order to qualify for the second selection camp. Krug placed among the Top 5 in the 3-meter individual event and among the Top 2 in the 3-meter synchronized event with her diving partner Nancilea Underwood, a graduated diver from the University of Iowa. With these two finishes, Krug earned an invitation to the second selection camp, which also took place in Indianapolis.

Both Krug and Schavone remained in Indianapolis for a week in July for the second selection camp. Krug placed among the Top 2 in the individual 3-meter competition to qualify for the World Cup team.
