Heintz Earns GCAA Academic All-America Honors

July 13, 2006

Senior Chris Heintz became just the third UCLA golfer to receive All-America Scholar honors from the Golf Coaches Assn. of America when the organization announced its all-academic team this week.

Heintz, 21, was named to the GCAA's Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar Team for the 2005-06 academic year. Earlier this Spring, Heintz was named to the 2nd Team Pac-10 All-Academic squad. He has a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 in History and has earned a spot on the Director's Honor Roll six times in nine quarters at UCLA.

Heintz became the third UCLA player honored academically by the GCAA, joining Brandon DiTullio (2000) and Travis Johnson (2003 and '04)

On the course, Heintz has played more than 100 rounds of golf for the Bruins in three seasons. In March, he won his first collegiate title, the Braveheart Classic, with a 54-hole score of 209 (-7). He earned 2nd Team All-Pac-10 honors in 2006.
