USC Men's Basketball Schedule Announced

July 14, 2006

The USC men's basketball team embarks on a new era with the opening of the state-of-the-art Galen Center when they host South Carolina on Nov. 16 in the first basketball home game at the fabulous new facility and the first of 18 scheduled home games for the Trojans during the 2006-07 season. Second-year head coach Tim Floyd, who engineered one of the best first seasons in USC history, will guide his young Trojan team through a 31-game slate which includes a road game at traditional power Kansas on Dec. 4.

The Trojans will open the Galen Center in style with a marquee matchup against two-time defending NIT Champion South Carolina and follow that up two days later, on Saturday, November 18, by hosting West Coast Conference power St. Mary's in the first weekend game at the Galen Center. The Trojans will host crosstown rival UCLA at the Galen Center for the first time on Saturday, Jan. 13 and will travel to Pauley Pavilion to take on the 2005-06 NCAA runner-up Bruins on Wednesday, Feb. 7.

USC and UCLA will be part of the four-team field which includes Texas A&M and George Washington at the 13th annual John R. Wooden Classic held at the Arrowhead Pond of Anaheim on Dec. 9. The Trojans, appearing in their fourth Wooden Classic, will take on the defending Atlantic 10 Conference Champion George Washington Colonials in the second game of the doubleheader.

USC will participate in the Las Vegas Classic with first and second round games being held at the Galen Center on Dec. 17 against Charleston Southern and Dec. 19 versus Longwood, before moving on to Las Vegas with games against Kansas State on Dec. 22 and either New Mexico or Wichita State on Dec. 23 at a site to be determined in Las Vegas, Nev.Pac-10 conference play will begin with home games on Dec. 28 versus Washington and Dec. 30 against Washington State and USC will close out conference play against the same two teams, March 1 at Washington State and March 3 at Washington.

The Pac-10 Tournament will be held from March 7-10 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

USC returns their top three scorers in senior Lodrick Stewart and juniors Nick Young and Gabe Pruitt (ineligible in the fall semester) from last year's 17-13 squad and they will be joined by a talented recruiting class. With the much anticipated opening of USC's new arena and with the continued growth of Floyd's young team, it promises to be an exciting 2006-07 season for the Trojans.

The Trojans will play two exhibition games, the Cardinal & Gold game (intra-squad) on Nov. 4 and Cal Poly Pomona on Nov. 11 at a site to be determined. For ticket information, contact the USC Ticket Office at 213-740-GOSC (4672). A complete schedule follows.
