Hongzhe Sun, Chris Ash Capture Titles At Janet Evans Invitational

Los Angeles, Ca - Several of Stanford's top swimmers performed with high marks during the four days of competition (July 13-16) at the 13th annual Janet Evans Invitational at the McDonald's Swim Stadium.

Honzhe Sun claimed the men's 200-meter backstroke title in 2:00.53. Benjamin Stasiulis finished a close second in 2:00.70, while Tyler Clary placed third in 2:04.60.

'I've just been trying to find my stroke this whole season,' Sun said. 'Luckily I was able to find it early tonight. The last 100 felt really good.'

The men's 100-meter breaststroke title went to Chris Ash in 1:03.58. Ash, who had tied for second in the 200-meter breaststroke with Ivan Barnes, beat Barnes by .03 seconds.

In the men's 100-meter backstroke, former Cardinal All-American Peter Marshall led wire-to-wire to win in 55.35 seconds. The men's 200-meter freestyle went to another former Cardinal All-American, Jayme Cramer, who closed in the final half of the race to win in 1:49.87. Cramer, the NCAA champion in the event at Stanford in 2004, beat current Stanford swimmer Shaun Phillips, who placed second in 1:50.37.
