BERKELEY - Cal Athletics has signed a three-year contract with Champion Sports Tours to provide Golden Bear fans with travel packages to selected away games.
For the upcoming 2006 football season, Champion plans to offer travel packages to Tennessee and USC, as well as to Cal's hopeful postseason bowl game. Over the coming years, more trips will be offered as interest permits.
'We're excited to partner with a reputable company with a strong history of providing quality fan travel,' said Cal Deputy Director of Athletics Steve Holton. 'We feel that Champions experience in the fan travel industry will immediately result in a great experience for our fans following the team on the road.'
Each travel package includes round-trip airfare, hotel accommodations, a pre-game tailgate party, a reserved game ticket, several meals and more. The Tennessee trip will include three nights at the Springhill Suites in Knoxville with breakfast each morning.
'On behalf of everyone with Champion Sports Tours, I'm excited that Cal is our first partner on the West Coast,' said Kenny Schonburg, vice president of Champion Sports Tours. 'With the history, tradition and recent success of the Cal football program, we expect this to be an outstanding relationship. Cal fans will have a great time traveling with the Golden Bears.'
