Cal Volleyball Featured Four Times on Television This Fall

BERKELEY, CALIF. - The 2006 University of California women's volleyball team will be shown four times on television this fall, including twice live on Comcast SportsNet, and twice on a delayed basis on Fox Sports Net. Fox Sports will air the Cal at Stanford match on Friday, Oct. 6, and the Friday, Nov. 10 UCLA at Cal contest. Fox Sports Bay Area will usually air the matches on Saturday mornings following the match at either 9:30 a.m. or 10 a.m. Check local listings for start times. Cal's Friday, Nov. 24 match against Washington State is also a potential televised match.
Comcast SportsNet will show live the Saturday, Nov. 11 USC at Cal match at 7 p.m. at Haas Pavilion. Comcast will also air live the Saturday, Nov. 25 Washington-Cal match when the Golden Bears take on the defending national champion Huskies at 7 p.m. at Haas Pavilion.
The Bears, coached by Rich Feller (eighth year at Cal, 117-90; 22nd year overall, 416-257), return five starters from the 2005 squad (19-11, 10-8 in the Pac-10) that advanced to the NCAA second round for the fourth consecutive year, including junior outside hitter Angie Pressey, a two-time first-team All-Pac-10 selection. Cal also features senior setter Samantha Carter and senior libero Jillian Davis, both honorable mention All-Pac-10 picks last season, and sophomore Morgan Beck, a member of the 2005 Pac-10 All-Freshman Team.
The Bears will open their 2006 season hosting the Cal Molten Classic (Cal, UC Davis, Baylor, Montana) Aug. 25-26 at Haas Pavilion. Cal then travels to the Florida International Invitational (Cal, Xavier, Oral Roberts, Florida International), Sept. 1-2 in Miami, Fla., before hosting the Golden Bear Invitational (Cal, Pepperdine, American University, Colorado State), Sept. 8-9 at Haas Pavilion.
