FSN To Televise Two Husky Matches
July 25, 2006
SEATTLE-- The Pacific-10 Conference and FSN have selected two University of Washington volleyball matches to be televised as part of its 10-match line-up. Washington's match against Stanford on Sept. 22 will kick-off the Pac-10/FSN television package, while its match vs. UCLA on Oct. 27 has also been selected for broadcast. Both games will take place in Seattle at 7 p.m.
Washington is the defending NCAA and Pac-10 Champion after finishing the season with a 32-1 record. The Huskies return seven letterwinners for the 2006 campaign, including All-American setter Courtney Thompson, All-American outside hitter Christal Morrison and All-Pac-10 middle blocker Alesha Deesing. Washington also returns 2005 Pac-10 Coach of the Year Jim McLaughlin for his sixth season at the helm of UW Volleyball.
Volleyball season tickets and group tickets are now on sale. Season tickets cost $96 per seat and include reserved seating in the lower bowl of Bank of America Arena and a discount from the single game ticket price.
Single game tickets go on-sale August 1 with those seats ranging from $4-$9. For more information, please call the Husky Ticket Office at (206) 543-2200.
The televised match vs. Stanford on Sept. 22 will feature the top two finishers in the 2005 Pac-10 race. The Huskies just edged the Cardinal with a 17-1 conference record to win their second straight league championship, while Stanford finished one match back with a 16-1 record.
The match vs. UCLA on Oct. 27 should also be a thriller for Husky fans as the Bruins were the only team to defeat Washington last season. The five-game loss in Los Angeles snapped Washington's school-record 23-match win streak and marked the team's only blemish during the championship season.
Ten Pac-10 matches will be shown on FSN throughout the season beginning Sept. 22 and running through Nov. 24. All matches will be televised on a delayed basis. The Nov. 24 game will be a wildcard match with the featured match-up announced on Nov. 13. Washington's road match vs. Stanford is up for the wildcard spot.
The Huskies will make their season debut on the road when they compete in the 2006 AVCA College Volleyball Showcase, Aug, 25-26 at the University of Wisconsin Field House in Madison, Wis. Washington will open play vs. Ohio at 5 p.m. (CT) on Aug. 25 in a match to be televised by CSTV.
