Park Helps U.S. Retain Curtis Cup

July 30, 2006

UCLA's Jane Park helped the United States retain the Curtis Cup for the fifth straight time, contributing key points in all of her matches at the 34th annual competition between amateur female golfers from the U.S. and Great Britain and Ireland. The event was held at the Bandon Dunes Resort in Bandon, Ore.

Park won both of her singles matches and teamed with Georgia's Taylor Leon to capture 1.5 points as the U.S. won 11.5 to 6.5 in competition over the weekend.

On Saturday morning, Park and Leon defeated Claire Coughlan and Melissa Reid 1-up. In the afternoon, Park beat Tara Delaney 3 & 2 in match play.

On Sunday, Park and Leon halved their match against Delaney and Tricia Mangan in the morning competition. In the afternoon, Park defeated Delaney again 3 & 2.

Next week, Park, 19, will play in the U.S. Women's Amateur Championship, an event she won in 2004.
