Husky Golfers Complete First Round At Pacific Coast Amateur

SAN FRANCISCO -- Washington golfers Zach Bixler and Alex Prugh completed the first round of play at the 40th Pacific Coast Amateur Championship at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, Tuesday.

Bixler finished the first 18 holes tied for 37th after shooting three-over 74 and five strokes behind leaders Ben Fox and Matt Savage. Prugh, the tournament's defending champion, shot seven-over 78 and finished the day nine strokes behind the leaders. Prugh won the Pacific Coast Amateur title last year by three shots at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort.

The 72-hole stroke-play event continues Wednesday and wraps up Friday. Prugh will tee off in the second round Wednesday at 7:48 a.m. while Bixler will tee off at 8:03 a.m.

Fellow Husky Erik Olson will begin play at the Western Amateur on Wednesday in Benton Harbor, Mich.
