Ben Wildman-Tobriner Places Second In 50 Free at U.S. Swimming Championships

Irvine, Ca - Ben Wildman-Tobriner, who will be a senior at Stanford in the Fall of 2006, finished second in an event, the 50 free, that went down to the wire on Wednesday night at the 2006 United States National Swimming Championships at the William Woolett Aquatics Center.

Cullen Jones won the event, turning in a time of 21.94, the fastest time in the world this year. Wildman-Tobriner (San Francisco, Ca) was second in 22.16.

The race was a dead heat until Jones distanced himself from the rest of the field with about 20 meters to go.

The U.S. Swimming Nationals continue through Saturday.
