Aug. 4, 2006

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - The nation's top women's collegiate golf teams will start their season at the same place they hope to end it: along the World's Most Famous Beach. Arizona State and 17 other squads from across the country will gather September 22-24 in Daytona Beach, Fla., for the 2006 Golf Daytona Beach Women's Fall Preview, hosted by the University of Central Florida and the Central Florida Sports Commission. The 54-hole event will be played at LPGA International's Legends Course, the home of the 2007 NCAA Division I Women's Golf National Championship scheduled for May 22-25, 2007.

The field includes 17 teams ranked among the top 20 of the final 2006 Golfstat women's rankings, ensuring that the 2006 Golf Daytona Beach Women's Fall Preview will feature the strongest field of the golf season. The event allows the country's top teams to see the championship venue for the first time, while providing players the opportunity to tee it up on the same course used during LPGA Qualifying School. Daytona Beach is the home of the LPGA Headquarters.

The tournament includes an 18-hole practice round on Thursday, September 21. The competitive rounds are Friday-Sunday and begin at 8 a.m. All rounds are open and free to the public.

The 2006 Women's Fall Preview is sponsored by Golf Daytona Beach. Great weather, clear blue skies and quiet beaches make the Daytona Beach area the perfect destination for golf getaways. Golf Daytona Beach hotels will customize packages to fit any budget or interest, offering affordable packages that include pre-arranged tee times, cart and green fees.
