Hongzhe Sun Finishes Fourth In 200 Back At U.S. Swimming Championships

Irvine, Ca - Hongzhe Sun was Stanford's top swimmer in the final night of action on Saturday at the 2006 USA Swimming National Championships at the Willam Woolett Aquatics Center.

Sun, who captured the Pac-10 Championship and finished second at the NCAA's in the 200 back earlier this year, finished fourth in a tough field in the event on Saturday night. Sun, who will be a senior at Stanford in the fall of 2006, was timed in 2:00.59. Aaron Piersol maintained his unbeaten streak in the 200 meter backstroke. The streak dates back to 2001. Peirsol finished in 1:56.26, just 53-hundredths ahead of second-place finisher Michael Phelps.

A night earlier, Ben Wildman-Tobriner, finished fourth in the 100 meter freestyle. Wildman-Tobriner was timed in 49.49. Jason Lezak won the event in a meet record time of 48.63.
