Joh Climbs the Leaderboard at U.S. Women's Amateur

Sophomore Tiffany Joh climbed the leaderboard Tuesday at the 106th U.S. Women's Amateur, hosted by Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club, Witch Hollow Course, in North Plains, Ore.

Joh tied for second place after the 36-hole stroke play portion of the tournament. She fired a second-round 68 (-3), two strokes behind medalist Paige MacKenzie who placed first at 139 (-3). The 19 year-old U.S. Women's Amateur Publinks champion birdied three holes, including the par-5 18th, on the back nine en route to a 32 (-3) inward score.

UCLA's Jane Park played her morning round in two-under par 70 and tied for fourth at 142 (E). Senior Hannah Jun tied for 39th at 148 (+6) after carding a 73 (+1) in the second round. Incoming freshman Sydnee Michaels tied for 47th at 149 (+7) after signing for a 76 (+5).

Only sophomore Ryann O'Toole failed to make the cut. She posted a 78 (+7) in the second round and tied for 67th at 152 (+10).

The top 64 players advance to match play beginning Wednesday.
