Women Of Troy Earn No. 14 Ranking In 2006 AVCA Preseason Poll

LOS ANGELES -- The USC women's volleyball team has been ranked No. 14 in the nation in the 2006 American Volleyball Coaches' Association preseason poll. The Women of Troy return eight letterwinners and three starters, along with senior All-America libero Debora Seilhamer, from last year's squad that finished with a 17-11 record and fourth-place finish in the Pac-10 Conference.

The top ten teams in the poll were Nebraska, Penn State, Washington, Stanford, Florida, Santa Clara, Hawai'i, Texas, Wisconsin and UCLA.

USC was picked to finish fifth in the Pac-10 preseason coaches' poll behind Stanford, UCLA, Washington and Cal. Arizona was picked sixth, followed by Oregon State, Oregon, Arizona State and Washington State.

The 2006 season opens on Aug. 25-26 at the Century Tel/Classic Honda Tournament in San Marcos, Texas, where the Women of Troy will face North Texas, UTPA and Texas State.
