Frank Brennan to be Inducted Into the ITA Women's Tennis Hall of Fame

SKILLMAN, N.J. - Former Cardinal head women's tennis coach Frank Brennan was among four new members who will be inducted into the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Women's Hall of Fame next month at the College of William & Mary's McCormack-Nagelsen Tennis Center in Williamsburg, Va.

The Class of 2006 consists of: Brennan, Lori McNeil (Oklahoma State), Stephanie Tolleson (Trinity-TX) and Madge 'Bunny' Vosters (Ursinus). A dinner honoring this year's inductees will be held on September 15 with Betsy Nagelsen McCormack on hand for the formal presentations.

Stanford's Brennan compiled 510 career victories in 21 years of coaching.He led the Cardinal to a record 10 NCAA championships while coaching nine NCAA singles champions and four NCAA and AIAW doubles champions.Brennan, who retired from coaching in 2000,is a four-time Wilson/ITA National Coach of the Year and was named Wilson/ITA Coach of the Decade for the eighties and nineties.

McNeil was an ITA All-American at Oklahoma State in 1982 before a successful 19-year career on the WTA Tour. She went on to win 10 career singles titles and 32 doubles titles. In 1988 she climbed to a career high No. 9 in the WTA Rankings and was named to U.S. Federation Cup teams in 1988-89 and U.S. Wightman Cup teams three straight years from 1987-89.In 2004 she was the assistant coachfor the U.S. Olympic Team and is currently a women's national coach for USTA Player Development.

Tolleson captured the USTA national collegiate singles title in 1975 and helped Trinity to national team championships in 1975-76. She was also a gold medalist in doubles at the 1976 Pan American Games. As the former Vice President and Director of Worldwide Tennis for Mark McCormack's IMG she was named one of the top five most influential women in the sports business and the Woman in Sport and Events (WISE) Woman of the Year.

Vosters received the USTA Service Bowl Award in 1949 and went on to become the captain of the U.S. Fed Cup team in 1964. She won 22 USTA senior titles and a record 26 USTA mother/daughter titles during her tennis career. The Vosters were presented with the Ralph W. Westcott USTA Family of the Year Award in 1961 and 1988. A member of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall, she was also a standout in tennis,hockey and basketball for Ursinus (Pa.) College.
