Chappell and Kang Advance to Match Play at U.S. Amateur

UCLA's Kevin Chappell and incoming freshman Jason Kang each advanced to match play at the 106th U.S. Amateur in Chaska, MN. Sophomore James Lee missed the 36-hole cut.

On Tuesday, Chappell posted an even par score of 72 at the difficult Hazeltine Golf Course. His total of 143 (+1) tied for 18th. On Wednesday, he meets Greg Carlin of Kensington, MD at 11:40 a.m. (CDT).

Kang posted a one-over par score of 72 at the Chaska Town Course for a two-round score of 146 (+3). He tied for 37th place and will meet Canadian Ryan Yip at 7:50 a.m.

Lee fired a two-under par round of 70 on Tuesday, but missed the cut after placing in a tie for 155th at 152 (+9).

University of Florida sophomore Billy Horschel won medalist honors with a five-under par total of 138.
