Prugh Cruises to Second Round of Match Play at U.S. Amateur

Senior Alex Prugh picked up a victory in the first round of match play at the U.S. Amateur Championship held in Chaska, Minn., Tuesday. The Spokane, Wash. native defeated BYU senior Daniel Summerhays two and one to advance to tomorrow's second round.
Trailing or even with Summerhays throughout the first 15 holes, the seventh-seeded Prugh carded two birdies in the final four holes to clinch the second round berth.
Prugh will face 26th-seeded Towson University senior Jeffrey Castle on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 8:40 a.m. Castle, the 2005 and 2006 Colonial Athletic Association Player of the Year, defeated Tarik Can three and two to advance to the second round.
The U.S. Amateur will have 10 hours of national coverage on The Golf Channel and NBC over the last five days of the Championship.
