Cal's Daymeion Hughes to Be Featured in Live Chat on ESPN.com

BERKELEY - University of California cornerback Daymeion Hughes will be a featured guest on an ESPN.com Live Chat on Friday afternoon at 12 p.m. (Pacific). The senior has been named a preseason All-American by eight different preseason publications. He is also on the Watch List for three different national wards: the Bednarik Award, the Lott Trophy and the Nagurski Trophy.

Cal opens the 2006 season on the road at Tennessee on Sept. 2 in a contest that will be carried live on ESPN beginning at 2:30 p.m. (Pacific).
A product of Los Angeles and a graduate of Crenshaw High School, Hughes led the Pac-10 with 17 passes defended, including five interceptions, in 2005 as he was named first team All-Pac-10. He also had 62 tackles to rank fourth on the Cal squad.
Hughes is an art practice major and has also represented the Golden Bears at the Pac-10 Media Day in Los Angeles and the Bay Area Media Day in San Francisco.
The Golden Bears, ranked in the top 10 in six different preseason rankings for 2006, are coming off an 8-4 season that included a win at the Pioneer PureVision Las Vegas Bowl. The Bears ended the 2005 season ranked No. 25 in both the Associated Press and USA Today polls.
