Asia Kaczor Earns Tournament MVP Honors

LOS ANGELES -- Junior opposite hitter/outside hitter Asia Kaczor (Wroclaw, Poland/College of Southern Idaho) was named most valuable player Saturday for the 2006 CenturyTel Premier Tournament in San Marcos, Texas. Kaczor led the No. 14 USC Women of Troy to three straight 3-0 sweeps over North Texas, UTPA and Texas State.
Junior outside hitter Diane Copenhagen (Saratoga/St. Francis HS) was also named to the all-tournament team.
Kaczor registered 42 kills (4.67 kpg) in three matches. The reigning junior college national player of the year registered 15, 14 and 13 kills respectively. She recorded only eight errors for a weekend hitting percentage of .370 (42-8-92) to go with one service ace, five digs and seven block assists for a total of 46.5 points (5.17 ppg).
USC hosts the USC/LMU Tournament next weekend at the Lyon Center (Sept. 1-3). Friday's action starts at 5 p.m. with North Carolina taking on Utah with USC playing Fresno State at 7 p.m. Saturday's lone match features USC against Utah at 2 p.m. and Sunday's matches will be Utah against Fresno State at 2 p.m. and USC playing 2005 NCAA Final Four participant Tennessee at 4 p.m.
