California's Angie Pressey Named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- CALIFORNIA outside hitter Angie Pressey has been named the Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Aug 21-27, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.

Pressey, a junior from Heathrow, Fla., led the Golden Bears with 20 kills and only five errors in 35 attempts for a .429 hitting percentage in the championship match against Baylor and was named Co-MVP of the Cal MoltenClassic with teammate Hana Cutura. The honor marked the fourth consecutive all-tournament honor for Pressey.

In California's sweep over UC Davis, Pressey led the Golden Bears in kills (14), hitting percentage (.462), and service aces (3). Against Baylor, Cal found themselves trailing 14-11 during the third game before a Pressey killtied them at 21-21 to give the Golden Bears control of the game. In three matches, Pressey tallied 47 kills in three matches with five service aces.

This is the third weekly honor for Pressey, and California's 22nd Pac-10 Player of the Week all-time.
