TEMPE, Ariz. -

ASU hits the road for the fi rst time in 2006, heading east to Auburn for the Auburn/Mizuno Challenge. ASU faces host Auburn on Friday night, a team they defeated last season in Tempe. On Saturday, they will take on #16 Purdue and then close out the tournament with Virginia Tech. The Devils have never faced Purdue and are 1-0 all-time against the Hokies.
Thanks to their perfect weekend, ASU has turned in the best start to a season since they started 3-0 in 1998. Arizona State did not drop a game throughout the Sun Devil Classic, winning all nine games they played. The last time the Sun Devils began a season in that fashion was back in 1995, when ASU won their fi rst 18 games, part of their 7-0 start. The best start in school history belongs to the 1992 Devils, who began the year 8-0.
