Sept. 1, 2006

The University of Washington men's golf team, who returns all but two members from its squad that tied for ninth place at the 2006 NCAA Men's Golf Championship, is ranked 19th in the Golf World preseason coaches poll.

In addition to the Top-25 poll, Golf World also ranked the Top-50 'Players to Watch' for the 2006-07 season. Among the Top-50 was Husky senior Alex Prugh, who advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2006 U.S. Amateur and led UW during the 2005-06 season with a 72.15 stroke average.

Washington finished third at the 2006 NCAA West Regional in Tucson, Ariz., after a second-place finish at the Pac-10 Championship.

The Huskies open their 2006-07 season at home with the Opus NW Husky Invitational, held at Washington National Golf Club in Auburn, Wash. on Sept. 25-26.
