Utah Closes Out 3-0 Sweep Of North Carolina In Strong Fashion

LOS ANGELES - Airial Salvo registered a double-double Friday with 15 kills and 18 digs to lead the No. 24 Utah Utes to a 3-0 sweep (30-27, 30-23, 30-9) against North Carolina in day one action at the USC/LMU Classic. Junior outside hitter Kate Robison recorded all six of her kills in game three as the Utes utilized a streak of 11 consecutive points to earn the sweep.

Utah (2-1) hit a game-high .448 (18-5-29) in the third game to overpower the Tar Heels. The Utes hit .229 for the match with the best hitting performances coming from junior Whitney Webb (.368, 9-2-19) and junior Emillie Toone (.357, 7-2-14).

Redshirt sophomore Bekah Brinkley led the Tar Heels with 10 kills. Utah's Sydney Anderson and Shannon Krug had 20 and 19 assists, respectively, on the afternoon.

Utah and No. 14 USC plays tomorrow in the lone match at 2 p.m. with two matches on Sunday (Sept. 3) featuring Fresno State against Utah at 2 p.m. and USC against No. 11 Tennessee at 4 p.m. Both USC matches will be featured on a live video webcast on usctrojans.com.
