ASU Women's Golf Ranked No. 2 in Golf World Preseason Coaches Poll

Sept. 4, 2006

TEMPE, Ariz.- The Arizona State women's golf team is ranked No. 2 in the nation according to the Golf World Preseason Coaches Poll released last week. ASU garnered one-first place vote with the remaining 17 first-place votes going to Duke, last year's NCAA champion. Rounding out the top five were Georgia, Auburn and Purdue, respectively.

Last season, ASU capped off a stellar campaign with a fourth-place finish at the 2006 NCAA Championships. The fourth-place finish marked the first time ASU finished in the top-five since 1999. The Sun Devils were led by the freshman duo Azahara Munoz, and Jennifer Osborn, who boasted 73.03 and 73.46 scoring averages, respectively.

ASU kicks off the fall season Sept. 11-12 in Albuquerque, N.M., when it competes in the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational at the University of New Mexico.
