Keith Rivers Named Pac-10 Defensive Player Of The Week
Sept. 5, 2006
USC junior linebacker Keith Rivers has been named the Pac-10 Defensive Player of the Week for his performance at Arkansas.
Rivers, an All-American candidate who is on the watch lists for the Butkus and Bednarik Awards, spearheaded the USC defensive effort in the Trojans' 50-14 win at Arkansas. He had a team-high eight tackles, including five solo, and also recovered a fumble on Arkansas' opening series that set up a Trojan touchdown and then forced another fumble. The Trojan defense forced five turnovers and limited Arkansas to 2-of-10 on third-down conversion attempts.
Rivers started all of 2005 when he posted 52 tackles and was an All-Pac-10 honorable mention selection.
Also honored by the Pac-10 this week were UCLA quarterback Ben Olson (offense) and Arizona placekicker Nick Folk (special teams).
