Morton and Giordano Lead Volleyball Over Michigan State

COLUMBUS, OHIO - With Margie Giordano and Nicole Morton's combined 22 kills, the Sun Devil Volleyball (6-1) team came out to sweep the Michigan State Spartans in three games as the Sports Imports Classic kicked off Friday afternoon at OhioStateUniversity. The Sun Devils won 30-20, 30-28 and 30-17 over MSU as they rolled on to their sixth win of the season.

ASU seemed to be running on all cylinders with Sydney Donahue taking 19 digs on the day, her 18th straight game with double digit digs for the Devil followed with Colette Meek shutting down the Spartans at the net with six blocks.

On offense, Margie Giordano stepped up for the Devils with 13 kills and eight digs with Nicole Morton adding another nine kills and Nina Reeves and Danielle Fernandes with six apiece. Morton also added four service aces to ASU's tab.

The Spartans were unable to answer as Jessica Hohl had 10 kills against the Sun Devils with MSU's Miken Trogdon also coming up with 14 digs, as the took their first loss of the season to fall to 6-1.

ASU Volleyball returns to action tomorrow as the Sports Import Classic continues with the Sun Devils facing off against host school #19 Ohio State (6-0) at 6 p.m. CT.
