No. 10 USC Completes The Daily Double

LOS ANGELES -- For the second match Friday, junior Asia Kaczor (Wroclaw, Poland/College of Southern Idaho) led the No. 10 USC Women of Troy with 15 kills in a 3-0 victory (30-22, 30-21, 30-23) against host South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. USC earlier swept Florida State in action at the Gamecock Invitational.
USC (8-0) has registered 3-0 sweeps in six of its eight matches this season and defeated two teams from the Southeastern Conference (Tennessee on Sept. 3 in Los Angeles).
Kaczor hit a blistering .522 (15-3-23) for the match. Junior Diane Copenhagen (Saratoga/St. Francis HS) and sophomore Jessica Gysin (Los Gatos/St. Francis HS) had 13 kills each for the Women of Troy while freshman Taylor Carico (Manhattan Beach/Mira Costa HS) chipped in 42 assists.
Shonda Cole led the Gamecocks (7-3) with 17 kills on the evening.
USC senior All-America libero Debora Seilhamer recorded just eight digs, snapping an impressive streak of 54 straight matches with double figures in digs.
In the first game, USC led by five at one point and kept the Gamecocks away to set the tone for the match. Carico served USC to a quick 7-0 lead in the second game and later led by an 18-8 margin. At 22-22 in the third game, the Women of Troy rattled off seven straight points to complete the sweep.
USC concludes the tournament with an 11 a.m. Eastern match against St. John's before returning home. The Women of Troy will play at Pepperdine on Thursday (Sept. 14) in a 7 p.m. match that will be broadcast on ESPNU.
