Cal Opens 2006 at the Ram Fall Classic

BERKELEY, Calif. - The California women's golf team opens the 2006 fall season at the eighth-annual Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 11-12, at the Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, Colo. Rounds one and two will take place Monday beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, with the final 18 holes teeing off Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Live scoring for the event will be available at www.golfstat.com.

The 17-team field consists of: Arkansas State, Baylor, California, Colorado, Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Gonzaga, Kansas, Long Beach State, Montana, Montana State, Northern Colorado, Portland State, San Jose State, Weber State and Wyoming.

Cal's lineup for the season opener features (in order):

Allison Goodman, sophomore, San Diego, Calif.
Mika Takayama, senior, Alameda, Calif.
Christina Frick, freshman, Jonkoping, Sweden
Shannon Yocum, sophomore, Palos Verdes Estates, Calif.
Danielle Nash, senior, Roseville, Calif.

Cal finished fifth at the 2006 NCAA Championships, joining the Bears with Duke as the only schools to finish in the top five at nationals each of the last three seasons.
