Stanford's Cynthia Barboza Named Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- STANFORD outside hitter Cynthia Barboza has been named the Pac-10 Volleyball Player of the Week for Sept. 4 - 10, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced today.
Barboza, a sophomore from Long Beach, Calif., led the Cardinal to a three-match sweep at the Waikiki Marriott Challenge, including a 3-0 win over host No.9 Hawai'i.
For the tournament, Barboza hit .471, including .532 against Fairfield without tallying a single attack error. In Stanford's final match of the tournament, Barboza notched 15 kills, three blocks, and recorded a career-high four service aces against Hawai'i.
This is the first weekly honor for Barboza, and Stanford's 56th Pac-10 Player of the Week all-time.
