Four Pac-10 Schools Ranked Among Top-25 In Athlon Preseason Poll

WALNUT CREEK, Calif.-- Four Pac-10 women's basketball teams -- STANFORD, ARIZONA STATE, UCLA and CALIFORNIA -- are ranked among the Top-25 teams in the nation, according to the recently released 2006-07 Athlon Sports preseason poll.
Stanford, the six-time defending Pac-10 Champion, is ranked fourth by Athlon, as the Cardinal finished with a 15-3 league record last season, while advancing to the Elite Eight for the third time in as many years, before falling to LSU in the San Antonio Regional final.
Arizona State was tabbed by Athlon to finish 11th nationally, while the Bruins came in at No. 15. California, which made its first NCAA appearance in 13 years in 2005-06, was picked to finish 19th.
A record six Pac-10 teams qualified for NCAA postseason Tournament play in 2005-06, as five at-large berths were awarded to the league, in addition to UCLA which earned the automatic qualification by virtue of a 2006 State Farm Pac-10 Tournament win.
Pac-10 women's basketball officially tips-off on Tues., Oct. 31, as California has an exhibition contest scheduled with the Australian Team at Haas Pavilion at 7 p.m.
