Women's Golf Finish in Sixth Place

Daytona Beach, Fla. - The Arizona State women's golf team finished in sixth place after the final round of the 2006 Golf Daytona Beach Women's Fall Preview. The second-ranked Sun Devils shot a 27-over 891 (300-298-293). Georgia, who held the top spot through out the entire tournament, finished in first place after shooting a 5-over 869.
Individually, freshman Anna Nordqvist led the Sun Devils for the second straight tournament, shooting an even-par 216 (73-74-69) to tie for fourth place. Last week, Nordqvist finished tied for second place at the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational, the first tournament of her collegiate career.
Sophomore All-American Jennifer Osborn shot a 2-over 218 (73-74-71) to tie for tenth place. Sophomore All-American Azahara Munoz tied for 46th after shooting a 12-over 228 (77-73-78). Freshman Julian Murcia shot a 16-over 232 (77-77-78) to tie for 59th place. Junior Camila Sola tied for 76th after shooting a 21-over 237 (84-78-75).
Tennessee's Nicole Smith won individual medalist honors after shooting a five-under 211 (67-75-69).
Next up, the Sun Devils travel to Seattle,Wash. to compete in the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational Oct. 9-11.
